Director of Refugee Resettlement

Born in Congo and raised in Zambia, Musebo arrived in the United States in September 2021 through the International Institute of Wisconsin’s refugee resettlement program. Before coming to the United States, Musebo studied Mechanical Engineering in Zambia, however he was already drawn to service and community work. That passion led him to express early interest in joining our institute, and eventually applying to become part of our team!

He began his career with us in May 2023, as a Refugee and Placement CaseWorker. Reflecting on his early days in the role, he says: “In that field, I became so passionate about my job and I forgot about mechanical engineering.” Eager to grow, he embraced every opportunity: “Whatever opportunities come, just know I am here to learn and I am here to grow.”

In December 2023, he transitioned into the role of Matching Grant Coordinator. In this position, his strong work ethic contributed directly to the program’s rapid growth. As demand for services increased, he rose to the challenge, ensuring that every client received the support they needed. Eventually, the program grew so much that Musebo was quickly promoted to Matching Grant Program Manager in October 2024 in recognition of his outstanding contributions and impressive successes in his role.

In April of 2025 Musebo was promoted to Interim Director of Refugee Resettlement in which he once again displayed his strong commitment to our institute’s mission and demonstrated an unmatchable passion for helping those in our community.

Today, we are proud to say that Musebo now serves as the Director of Refugee Resettlement as of May 1, continuing his commitment to helping newcomers thrive in the U.S. We can’t wait to see how he will continue to impress us!
