Suan Neam
Refugee Health Services Coordinator
Email

My name is Suan, and I came to the United States from Myanmar in 2008 as a refugee. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Kalay University in 2005.

In 2014, I joined the International Institute of Wisconsin as a Community Health Worker, serving as a trusted bridge between the refugee community and health and social service systems. In 2023, I stepped into my current role as Refugee Health Services Coordinator, where I oversee three key programs: Refugee Medical Screening (RMS), Refugee Health Promotion (RHP), and Afghan Refugee Health Promotion (ARHP).

Through the RMS program, I coordinate and schedule medical health screenings for newly arrived refugees and connect them to primary care providers. The RHP and ARHP programs focus on delivering culturally and linguistically appropriate health education through workshops, assisting clients with follow-up medical needs, and providing transportation support.

My work is centered on improving access to care, promoting wellness, and empowering refugees to navigate the healthcare system with confidence.

Hobbies/Interesting Facts: I enjoy singing and listening to music, celebrating my cultural heritage, and taking part in fundraising events to support displaced people in Myanmar.
