Community Resource Coordinator

Description:

The Community Resource Coordinator will work with the International Institute of Wisconsin’s Refugee Resettlement Department. This position is responsible for securing housing for new refugee families and ensuring the home is ready to welcome the family.

The Community Resource Coordinator will maintain the existing relationship with landlords plus seek and develop new relationships. Additionally, this position will work with volunteer groups to stage homes for newly arrived refugee families.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and support the IIW’s mission, vision, and core values.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Provide culturally competent, equitable client services with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Secure affordable and appropriate housing for new refugee families.
  • Communicate and maintain good working relationships with landlords.
  • Work with community volunteers to set up housing for refugee families.
  • Coordinate with utility companies to ensure service on a client’s behalf.
  • Assist with client transportation as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Two years of related experience and/or job-related expertise
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to work a flexible work schedule
  • Driver’s license and Insured Vehicle
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. with assistance
