Share with your audience how Milwaukee is celebrating World Refugee Awareness Week on Wed., June 19, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. during the Westown Farmers Market in Zeidler Park on Michigan Street in downtown Milwaukee.
The day’s entertainment will include performances from refugees from Burma and Iraq, the Dance Academy of Mexico, and The Congolese Dance Group. Speakers, including Bojana Zoric Martinez, the Refugee Programs Section Chief and the Wisconsin State Refugee Coordinator, and Alexander Durtka Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of the International Institute of Wisconsin, will provide attendees with an overview of the resettlement scene in Milwaukee and the surrounding area.
The Westown Farmers Market boasts more than 50 vendors, offering a wide range of ready-to-eat lunch choices, locally grown produce, and crafts made by resident artisans.
