SUMMARY:Interpretation Training
DESCRIPTION:We’re pleased to announce that we will be hosting our second interpreter training seminar of 2024 on September 20th. This fall’s seminar is a three-hour course that will be held at the IIW office (1110 N Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Drive\, Milwaukee) from 9 AM to noon. The seminar is taught in English\, so all spoken-language interpreters are welcome.\n\nThe registration fee is $75.00 per participant. We are offering scholarships for select refugee languages\, such as Arabic\, Burmese\, Dari\, Farsi\, Karen\, Nepali\, Pashto\, Somali\, and Swahili. If you are interested in applying for a scholarship\, please indicate this on the registration form. The registration fee is waived for interpreters on IIW’s interpreter roster.\n\nPlease see the attached flyer for more information and use this registration form (also linked in the flyer) by Wednesday\, September 18 to sign up. For organization representatives who have contacted me regarding more than one interested participant\, please have each participant fill out the registration form individually.\n\nDon’t hesitate to contact me (interpretation@iiwisconsin.org\, 414-225-6222) if you have any questions.

DESCRIPTION:  \nOverview of Refugee and Migration Issues in Europe – Panel Discussion \nThe International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is the U.S. Department of State’s premier\nprofessional exchange program. Through short-term visits to the United States\, current and\nemerging foreign leaders in a variety of fields experience this country firsthand and cultivate lasting\nrelationships with their American counterparts. Professional meetings reflect the participants’\nprofessional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the United States.\nIVLP Alumni include over 500 current and former chiefs of state &amp; heads of government\, for\nexample Jacinda Ardern\, Tony Blair\, or Narendra Modi.\nThis IVLP project brings together 11 government officials\, NGO leaders\, and human rights experts\nfrom 9 different European countries\, all working in the area of refugee resettlement.
