My name is Halim, and I’m originally from Afghanistan. I’m a native speaker of Pashto and Dari. I joined the International Institute of Wisconsin (IIW) in 2023, where I currently serve as the Program Support Manager.
In this role, I support the planning and coordination of programs that promote belonging, stability, and opportunity for individuals and families who are establishing their lives in the United States. I’m committed to strengthening community engagement, encouraging cross-cultural connection, and ensuring responsive, people-centered services.
With lived experience across different global settings, I value the richness of cultural backgrounds and perspectives, and I strive to help create environments where everyone feels respected, welcomed, and empowered.
Hobbies/Interesting Facts: On my free time, I enjoy playing both soccer and cricket, which are my favorite sports and a great way for me to stay active and connected with others. I also have a strong interest in history and spend time reading historical books to deepen my understanding of past events and global cultures.
Languages Spoken: My native languages are Pashto and Dari, and I am fluent in both. In addition, I am proficient in Urdu and English.
